Canadian US Border Crossing Rules: Cuban Cigars

Somes Habanos Cigar - Cuban Cigars

Wondering if you can buy some Cuban cigars in Canada, and then drive or otherwise cross back over the United States / Canada border with your Cubans in your pocket?

Unfortunately, Cuban cigars are prohibited. Even personal consumption cigars, if they are from Cuba, cannot be brought into the United States from Canada.

You are allowed up to 50 cigars for personal use, for which you do not have to pay a duty (or tax). However, they can’t be Cuban cigars! They won’t just take them away… you could be fined a lot of money.

The only way you can carry Cuban Cigars into the US across the Canada – US border, is if you are returning from travel to Cuba, bought them in Cuba, and had permission to travel to Cuba. Not likely, right?

Word is… all the best cigar makers left Cuba long ago. So you may not even want Cuban cigars any more. Check with your local cigar expert ¬†about that!

Border not very Busy

The Peace Arch i snot nearly as busy as everyone said it would be. During the day there’s normal traffic. I don’t notice alot of Olympic traffic at all.

Under Construction

I’m not sure how it got this way, but the title is supposed to be a post title not the blog name. Anyway this site is under construction so thanks for your patience. It is my blog about living in the US and working in Canada on preparations for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The US-Canada border has changed my life. Crossing every day is a HUGE big deal. I have learned many things, and will share them on this site to help everybody else so they don’t have to learn the hard way like me.
